The brief
The Cabinet Office People Strategy commits the organisation to investing in everyone by offering a high-quality learning and development package.
The need for Health & Welfare training had been identified as a result of:
- The Capability Re-reviews of the Cabinet Office;
- The Cabinet Office internal ‘People Survey’; and
- The business’s assessment of current and future workforce requirements.
In relation to Health & Welfare the areas to be developed was identified as Managing Personal Stress
The solution
The Cabinet Office was looking for an innovative approach in the design and delivery of the content of this programme and wanted a range of engaging and interactive delivery method.
The aim of the programme was to identify and manage personal levels of stress to aid enhanced long-term productivity.
The programme consisted of two elements – a pre-course course questionnaire examining ‘personal drivers’ followed by a highly practical and interactive one-day workshop covering:
- individual and organisation responsibilities for workplace stress
- the difference between pressure and stress
- the signs and symptoms of stress
- lifestyle factors which help and hinder an ability to manage pressure
- the ‘Stress Model’
- the psychological impact of change and ways to overcome resistance
- sources of support
- stress reduction plans
The verdict
Feedback from the participants both at the end of the event and after three months was extremely positive
In particular, participants found the pre-workshop assignment very beneficial in adding to their knowledge and understanding and they rated the trainer very highly for an excellent style of delivery and outstanding subject knowledge.
