Defence Academy for the Ministry of Defence

Defence Academy for the Ministry of Defence

Ministry of Defence staff on the verge of retirement can take time to consider life after work on our specialist courses.

The brief

Bray Leino BroadSkill has been providing pre-retirement courses for Defence Academy since March 2004. Our team of 22 experienced facilitators and specialists delivers events for MOD staff and partners at venues across the country.

The challenges

The workshops aim to help participants understand the psychology of retirement in order to help them manage this significant change.

The solution

Financial planning, pensions and finances in retirement form an important part of the seminars. Participants also learn about strategies for maintaining health and managing stress. They can also consider their options for the future, from future employment to voluntary work and education.

The execution

The pre-retirement course is practical in nature and participants are given plenty of opportunity to share concerns, ask questions and participate in all case studies and discussions. The tutors are available for support and advice if needed and at every stage reference is made to information and support materials.

The verdict

Feedback from participants and their spouses has always been tremendously positive. Many have also commented after their retirement that the workshop gave them time to reflect on their future, provided an opportunity to discuss options and provided information vital for their future security and well-being.
